Speed Watch Program

Purpose of Speed Watch
We care about our community. Chilliwack Crime Prevention Services invests in road safety awareness, like Speed Watch, to help change driver behaviour and make our roads safer for everyone. With this program, volunteers set up speed watch equipment on busy roads to track speeders.

The program works in the community to address speeding and traffic problems through:
  • Community awareness
  • Neighbourhood action
  • Speed related data collection
  • Police awareness

DID YOU KNOW?

It takes 18 metres to come to a complete stop when driving 30 km/h on a dry, paved surface.
It takes over 36 metres to completely stop when driving at 50 km/h.
At 110 km/h, a vehicle will travel more than the length of a football field before stopping completely.
